Abstract
Two linear motors have identical field windings with the same air gap axis, while the armature is common to them for a length at least equal to the winding centre distance, and moves along the common axis under an adjustable voltage. Each winding is supplied with variable three-phase current, so that the motors exert opposite forces on the armature. On each armature oscillation the energy lost by the dampening of its movement is restored, typically by a third linear motor, between the first two and coaxial to them, and supplied with variable voltage during the natural half-cycle of the armature oscillatory movement.
