Abstract

The sound-proofed part of the panel consists of silica fibre tubes with their lengthwise axes parallel and perpendicular to the panel's main faces. The tubes are held in a frame and are protected from impact by mesh with holes covering 80 to 95 per cent of its surface. The tubes are fixed to a transparent sheet of reinforced glass, polyvinyl chloride or other material. The transparent sheet is pref. spaced from the tubes to provide a sound attenuating space. The panel may be single or double.
