Abstract
The process consists of (a) mixing Si2N2O powder with a refractory metal oxide; (b) pressing the mixt. to form a compact; (c) coating the compact with Si2N2O powder; (d) heating to 1250-1850 degrees C; and (e) removing the very brittle coating formed by (c). The pref. metal oxides are those of Mg, Ca, Al, Be, Y in the amt. of 0.1-10, esp. 5%.
