Abstract

The screens rollup and unroll on pairs of drums which have protruding drive shafts bearing two sprockets - one large and one small. The small sprocket on one shaft is connected by a drive chain to the large sprocket on the other shaft, and vice versa. The large sprockets are each connected to a free wheel and thus can only drive or be driven in one direction while the small sprockets are acted by friction discs, keeping the side screens under tension. The gangway is esp. for airports.
