Abstract

Control system is used for ultrasonic mapping of brain where waves must be sensibly normal to cranium. Transmitting and receiving elements are mounted on a chassis with position detecting elements aligned perpendicularly to axis of rotation of electric motors, the chassis being orientated in two planes by these motors. A logic clock controls timing of positioning operations by enabling emission of pulses for reflection by target area. Received echoes are processed to cause step-by-step motor movements for optimum received signal.
