Abstract
Compsn comprises (a) >=1 (2:3-epoxypropoxy)alkyl trialkoxysilane of formula (I):CH2-CH2-CH2-O-R-Si(OR1)3 (I) (where R is alkylene with >=4C; R1 is alkyl with 4C) and (b) >=1 component selected from prepolymers, polymers, precopolymers and copolymers of vinyl monomers contg an epoxy gp) and is cured by heating with a polymerisation catalyst opening the ring, e.g. a Lewis acid. It forms a hard, wear-resistant coating when applied to plastic surfaces e.g. of poly (glycidyl methacrylate).
