Abstract

Title cpds. (I) in which the alkyl gps. pref. contain 1-4C atoms, are pref. prepd.by dissolving a 1, 1'-dialkyl-biguanide in anhydrous alcohol, adding theophyllin-7-acetic acid (II), refluxing the mixt. until (II) has dissolved, and allowing (I) to crystallise. (I) are of formula:-(where R1 and R2 are 1-4C alkyl, esp. CH3).
