Abstract

Material for pressureless H2-storage consists of >=1 cubic phase of system Ti-Ni, pref. of Ti2Ni and/or TiNi, present as powders having particle size 50-100 mu, or as porous bodies. Material is pref. used for purifying H2 by absorption esp. from O2 and/or N2-contg. H2 and subsequent desorption of H2, and also for sepn. of H2 from any gas mixt. including a mixt. with D2. Absorption takes place at room temp. to 150 degrees C and desorption at 150-400 degrees C. Any bonded gas residues can be desorbed by heating to 400 degrees C, supplying H2 to alloy powder, lowering temp. to room temp. and opt. desorption by re-heating to >=150 degrees C.
