Abstract

Cpds of formula (I): (where Z is H, Cl; R is the gp. -CH2.O2C.R1 where R1 is 1-7C alkyl. Broad-spectrum antibiotics in which the breadth of activity spectrum, and absorbability is increased by introduction of the OH gp. in the alpha-aminophenylacetamido gp. Prepd. by conventional methods e.g. by introduction of the gp. R into salts of 6-phenylglyoxylamido-penicillanic acids treatment with hydroxylamine, then reduction of the oxime to give the alpha-amino gp.
