Abstract

The shuttle picking assembly at each side of a shuttle-loom is replaced by cinematic assembly comprising pref. a bell-crank which is driven by pref. a belt and gearing from the loom main shaft and which is connected to a short arm of an L-shaped lever pivoted at its elbow whereby rotation of the shaft is converted to reciprocation of the lever to drive a picking element. Pref. the long arm of the lever is connected via a link to a carriage slidable on rails and pref. the carriage is connected to the fixed ends of a belt passing around a pair of spaced pulleys. The picking element e.g. a lance is connected to the belt (by e.g. a clamp) so that movement transmitted from the lever to the picking element is magnified. The picking element picks the weft half-way across the warp. Conversion is simple as only the picking assembly need be changed.
