Abstract

Method of treating particulate solids to increase the duration of suspensions in liqs. in which the substance is dispersed in a liq. comprises freezing the suspension and then liquefying again. Partic. applicable to bismuth subnitrate/kaolin mixts. for prepg. compsns. for treating indigestion and gastric disorders. A pref. method includes suspension of the mixt. in ethanol/light petroleum/glycerol (25:25:0-2) at a rate of 1 g in 8 ml, freezing three times for 30 min. each time then suspending the treated solid in distilled water (2 g in 7 ml) and evaporating to dryness. The time of suspension was 160 times that of the untreated solid.
