Abstract

Metal pin, in partic. austenitic steel pin, for resistance welding is designed, at its welding end, such as to cause the formation of an outward opening ring gap around the spot weld after fixing. The pin has pref. a conical or domed end face which may also be on the end face of a head. The shape of the ring gap eliminates the risk of pitting round the spot weld when flat ended pins are used. The pins are used in mfr. of heat exchanger, chemical process plants and boilers.
