Abstract
Target disc is formed as a framed assembly of horizontal gear driven rollers with each roller covered by a suitable reacting material and the whole assembly mounted within an evacuated chamber. The axes of the rollers connect to manifolds and serve simultaneously for circulation of gaseous or liq. coolant. The rollers are close pitched to minimise gaps and the reacting material linear dimensions are so selected as to generate an approximate circular target disc to the incident particle beam. Thus the target material life is enhanced by a factor of 3.
