Abstract

A sewing machine includes a lead screw having a portion of the thread inclined to the screw axis and portion of the thread perpendicular to the screw axis, whereby as the screw rotates, a gear wheel engaging the screw is rotated intermittently. Rotation of the gear wheel is used to advance a textile work-piece step-by-step through the sewing machine and pref. also to feed the device operates with a low torque and ensures accurate step-by-step advance of the work-piece.
