Solid electrolyte contg., by wt., 85-95 % Al2O3, 1-5% TiO2 and 4-10% ZrO2, has raised working life, e.g. to 2-4 hrs. in uninterrupted contact with metal and >80-90% reliability in working. Props. include : 0-1 open porosity, 3.7-4.1 g/cc apparent density, 8-15 temp. change cycle stability at 1300-20 degrees C in air, 93-98% ion conductivity.
