Abstract

The various pieces for making the garment are cut according to a pattern. The skins will have undergone a preliminary treatment to render them dimensionally stable, they are generally in the form of sheets stuck together with a hot adhesive and ready for use. The pieces are cut from the pattern and a 1 cm strip along the edge of each piece is shaved down to the leather surface, these edges are then stuck with a cold adhesive. When this is dry, metallic staples are fixed at regular intervals along the edges to ensure a good mechanical grip. The process can be applied to the most varied pieces and is adapted for mfr. of any natural or artificial fur or leather article. The finished garments are suppleness. The lining and the trimmings are added in the usual manner. The mfg. costs can be reduced as the work can be done by non-specialised labour.
