Abstract

Growing plants are treated to increase their resistance to cold weather, frost and plant diseases and to increase the saccharide content of the fruit and vegetables harvested from them, by a process in which an aqs. soln. of a water soluble condensed phosphate salt (pref. derived from an acid contg. 73-86 wt.% P2O5), opt. contg. an adhesive, ir sprayed onto the surface of the leaves or injected under the bark or into the tissue of the plant. The aqs. soln. pref. contains 0.01-1 wt.% P2O5.
