Abstract

Title esters have the formula: where R and R1 are 1-10C (4-8C) alkyl or alkoxy and is not 1 of R and R1 is alkoxy (I) are used as nematic liquid crystals, and have electrooptical properties similar to those of Schiff's bases, but are more stable. (I) are not sensitive to image-forming light sources used to activate CdS or ZnS photo-activated liquid crystals cells.
