Abstract

Cu is recovered from acidic aqs. by pdt. streams esp. from conversion of anthranitic esters into the corresp. sulphonyl chlorides via the diazonium chloride, by (a) precipitating the Cu ions as copper carbonate, (b) heating the precipitate and liquid until the copper carbonate precipitate can be easily filtered, and (c) sepg. the precipitate from the liquid. Efficient copper recovery on an industrial scale e.g. >95%. Non-toxic effluent streams.
