Abstract

Process comprises successively (a) immersing an electrode into the aqs. soln. to form an electrochemical generator with the test piece metal, (b) holding the electrode immediately adjacent to the test piece metal, (c) measuring the electromotive force of the electrochemical generator, the intensity of the short circuited current, and the resistance of the aqs. soln. between the workpiece and the electrode, (d) deducing the electrode polarisation resistance from the measurements in (c), and, (e) determining the max. value of the intensity of the short circuited current from the electromotive force and the electrode polarisation resistance.
