Abstract

AB Extrudable material to form the body of a pencil or similar marking crayon, which is capable of being sharpened, comprises 30-90% thermoplastic binding agent, esp. styrene-acrylonitrile, ABS, rubber-modified impact-resistant polystyrene, ethyl cellulose, cellulose ester, homopolymers and copolymers of vinylic resins; 10-70% fibrous filler, esp. sawdust of 75-425 mu particle size; 0.5-15% metal soap, esp. aluminium stearate in particles of size 95% <75 mu. Pref. this material is extruded at >=100 degrees C above its m.pt. around a preheated marking core.
