Abstract

A twisted vegetable fibres yarn is pref. passed underneath a ccotra-rotating roller immersed in a bath contg a mixt of water, polyvinyl alcohol contg. an acetyl gp, pref a low viscosity anionic mineral oil and pref an anti-static agent so that the yarn is impregnated to is not >10% (pref. is not 80%) by wt witht he mixt whilst being simultaneously tensioned. The yarn may be heated before or after dyeing and is used for knitting. The yarn is softer and has a smoother surface. The tendencies to wrinkle, forma pile and build up esp. static electricity are reduced.
