Abstract

Vinylester-contng. polymers (e.g. PVAc, EVA copolymer), esp. olefine copolymers contg. vinlesters, opt. in admixt. with homopoly-olefines (e.g. PE) are cross-linked by reaction, in the melt, with alkoxy metal salts, as cross-linking agents, having formula Me(OR)x(AC)y' where Me is a divalent to pentavalent metal; OR is an alcohol residue with chain length of 1-18C; Ac in an org. 2-22C carboxylic acid residue; x is 1-3; y is 1 or 2; or a cpd. may be used having formula Me'ME"(OR)x(Ac)y where Me' is a mono-or divalent metal; Me" is a divalent to pentavalent metal; Or is as above; Ac is as above or a fluoride; x is >=2; y is >=1; (x+y) = the sum of the valencies of Me' and Me". A pref. cpd. is Al(OC3H7)2CH3COO. The claimed cpds. are resistant to humidity, hence are easily handlable.
