Abstract
The fastener is coated with (1) Ni, Sn, Co, Cd, Zn or esp. Cu, 0.254-2.54 (0.508-2.03) mu thick, (11) Zn or Sn or Cd-Sn, Cd-Zn, Zn-Cu, Cd-Cu or Zn-Sn alloy or esp. Cd, 1.27 - 22.9 (2.54-12.7) mu thick, (111) Cu, 0.25A-12.7 (1.02-3.05) mu thick, (1 V) Co, Ni-Co alloy or esp. Ni, 2.54-17.8 (7.62-12.7) mu thick, and (V) Zn-Ni, Zn-Co-Ni or Zn-Co alloy, 0.127 - 5.08 (0.254-3.81, esp. 0.127-2.286) mu thick. Alternatively it is coated with (1) Cu, 0-12.7 mu thick, (11) Ni, Co or Ni-Co alloy, 2.54-25.4 mu thick, and (111) Sn-Ni, Sn-CO-Ni or Sn-Co alloy, 0.127-0.508 mu thick. The layers are applied by electroplating, and bath-insol particles, e.g. inorg. materials, synthetic resins and glasses, may be incorporated in the Sn alloy plating bath. Adhesion between the layers and the fastener is strong.
