Abstract

1,268,726. Coated products. WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON BUHRLE A.G. 11 June, 1970 [13 June, 1969], No. 28312/70. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions B3, C3 and F3] An aluminium alloy cartridge case comprises a coating at least 30Á thick of an elastic material based on a natural or synthetic rubber, e.g. polyurethane. Fibrous colloidal alumina is included in the coating material. Beneath the plastics coating the case is plated with aluminium which has been subjected to a chemical or anodic oxidation treatment prior to the application of the plastics coating. The aluminium layer is applied in a cold bonding process (see heading B3P) and has a thickness of 10 to 100Á. The alloy is of the kind Al-Zn-Mg- Cu, and can also include Cr, Mn, Be or Ag.
