Abstract

Gas washer, principally for cleaning exhaust and flue gases, of the type in which the gas is blown through a venturi to entrain water droplets and then from the venturi into a gas/liq. separator; polluted water from the separator is now drained into a settling tank around an open-bottomed, central bell inside which purified water rises to feed the supply to the venturi throat while impurities settle in the bottom of the tank. Water is added to replace that lost by evaporation.
