Abstract

An exhaust fume scrubber comprises an ejector, to which liquid is pumped at high pressure and velocity, and from which turbulent mixture passes to a settling tank for solid contaminants. The tank has a partition, with an aperture connecting to a pipe unmerged in liquid; and purified fumes vent from this second section. Liquid is recycled from the settling tank, within which levels are controlled by overflow valves. Fumes may be vented to atmosphere, through a chimney, without further purification.
