Abstract

Title material are ground to a particle size 0.297 mm by (a) cooling the material by countercurrent heat exchanger with a cryogen, (b) introducing the cooled material into a rotary impact grinder by a screen disposed immediately upstream from the grinder, the screen preventing the penetration of vaporised cryogen and atmos. air, (c) introducing a cryogen into the grinder in an amt. sufficient to maintain the cooled material in a brittle state, (d) grinding the cooled material in the grinder while continuously withdrawing particles of ground material and vaporised cryogen from the grinder by a screen mounted at the outlet of the grinder, and (e) sepg. the particles of ground material from the cryogen. Efficient grinding with a minimum usage of cryogen.
