Abstract
The CO2 working fluid passes from the heat source, esp. a heat exchanger whose primary medium is the liquid sodium coolant of a nuclear reactor, to the main alternator drive turbine and either to a peak clipping alternator turbine under peak load conditions, or a secondary refrigeration system compressor drive turbine under lightly loaded (base load) conditions. The exhausts from the turbine pass through a regenerative refrigerator heat exchanger; with CO2 input to the "boiler" in its secondary side to the compressor. This is preceded by a liquid/vapour phase separator, the extracted liquid fraction being separately pumped and reheated before rejoining the compressed gas fraction.
