Abstract

The title resin is prepd. by (a) condensing melamine and formaldehyde in a molar ratio of 1:1.6 to 1:6 in aqs. soln., and (b) adding, before, during or after condensation, 1-20 wt.% based on precondensate, of a soluble fatty acid dialkylamide of formula I: (where R' is H or lower alkyl; and R2 and R3 are each lower alkyl). The resin obtd. has improved flow properties, gloss, hardness, and resistance to water, chemicals and heat.
