Abstract

Moist materials such as manure, fodder, fish and meat for animal feeds, clays etc. are dried by removal of about 80% of the original water content by crushing, granulating and then passing through a drying drum held at 40-60 degrees C and at a pressure slightly below atmos. The moderate drying temp. protects sensitive materials from heat damage and the process is particularly economic in its use of fuel oil. Exhaust gases from the drying tunnel are drawn through an expansion chamber and treated by an ionising deodoriser to prevent pollution.
