Abstract

A hollow blow moulding wih flexible walls is lined with an incompressible fluid to allow a coating material to be injection moulded under pressure without crushing the core. After the cover moulding cycle, the fluid is drained from the core. Pref. the core moulding ends in tubular extendtion to facilitate coupling to a supply hose for the incompressible fluid, which is prf. water. Pref. after the fluid is drained out, the coupling is disconnected and the core cavity sealed off. Claims cores of PVC, polyvinyl acetate or polyethylene and covers moulded from dense or expanded PVC or polyurethane. For mfg. articles requiring a combination of strength and flexibility, esp. automobile fittings or other furniture required to avoid injury to passengers upon impact. The hollow core may be bridged by tubular inserts to accommodate mounting bolts without leaking the core fluid during moulding.
