Abstract

Cpds. of formula (I): (where R1 is H or acyl; R2 is opt. branched 1-6C alkyl or 3-6C cyclic alkyl; R3 = same or different as R2; or R2+R3+N may form a heterocyclic ring; including physiologically-acceptable acid-addn. salts) are prepd. by reacting a cpd. (II) : (where Y is -CH - CH2 or -CH-CH2-Z; Z is Cl or Br) with an amine (III) : HNR2R3 to give (I) contg. a gp. 1-N-2-hydroxypropyl-(3). (I) may then opt. be de-acylated. (I) have signified activity and may be used in the treatment and prophylaxis of heart-arrhythmias or against diseases of the coronary vessels.
