Abstract

A de-aeration chamber, to which liquid, e.g. milk from a farm reservoir, is pumped through a tangential entry, has a bottom outlet for fluid, and a top outlet for air, and is equipped with a float, which, at a min. fluid level, actuates a switch in circuit with a magnetic valve, so that compressed air forces a valve in the chamber air outlet closed (against a spring) and forces a valve in the chamber fluid outlet line open (against a spring). Chamber air and fluid outlets are connected to the top and bottom respectively of a tank, e.g. on a lorry, and the fluid line has a meter and non-return valve. Accuracy of metering and quality of fluid is ensured, by prevention of air entrainment in fluid line.
