Abstract

Monoxides of Ge, Ti, Zr or Hf are prepd. by mixing Ge, Ti, Zr or Hf with the dioxide of the corresponding metal at a molar ratio of metal/metal oxide of 1-1.3/1 roasting the mixt. and then subjecting to subsequent thermal treatment. Gives high purity monoxides in high yields. The process is simple and suitable for industrial use.
