Abstract

Method for sintering a charge (I) of particles which comprises a metallic oxide, a combustible carbonised material, and H2O is by firing (I) and passing an oxidant gas through it at 1-5kg gas per kg (I) to produce a flame front moving transversely towards a mobile grille which supports (I). The moisture laden gas leaving (I) is collected at a first part of its path and recycled through (I) at a later part of its path, and the moisture laden recycled gas is then passed through an electrostatic precipitator to remove dust.
