Abstract
Armour piercing shells comprise a heavy metal core contg. e.g. >75% W and 0.2-15% Fe, 1-20% Ni, Co, Mo, Cu and a 5-100 mu layer of pref. Ti carbide and/or nitride and/or carbonitride. The shell has greater penetration power, piercing concrete and armour plate without being welded to the pierced structure.
