Abstract

Finely divided livers (100 kg), water (200 l.), cobalt chloride (0.5g), cysteine hydrochrochloride (1g) and popayer juice (400g) are adjusted to pH 7 and heated at 70 degrees C for 4 hrs. The soln is filtered and evaporated under vacuum at 50 degrees C to give a paste which is retaken in water (100 l) filtered and again evaporated at 50 degrees C under vacuum. The extract is retaken in water (1 wt. pt. extract per 2 vols water) are stored at -5 degrees C for 5 days or if the extract will be used in alcoholic formulations it is purified by dissolving in alcohol (300 l per 100 kg of extract) at 60 degrees C. The soln. is filtered and evaporated under vacuum at 50 degrees C to give a paste contng. 25% (plus-or-minus 5%) of moisture.
