Abstract

Selected microorganisms useful in the biological purification of sewage and effluents are isolated by taking microorganisms from a natural source e.g. soil or normal sewage. Cultivating them in a media contg. specific pollutants e.g. detergents, industrial or agricultural chemicals or animal feed concentrates, opt in stages where the conc. of pollutant is increased to that found in the effluent, sporulating the microorganism to increase its resistance, collecting the microorganism and drying it. An inert support e.g. bentonite, may be used in the harvesting of the product.
