Abstract
A catalyst for treating exhaust gases from combustion engines, and which can oxidise CO and hydrocarbons to CO2 and reduce oxides of N to N2, consists of 4-20wt.% CoO, 0-15 wt.% NiO, Cr2O3, MnO or Fe2O3, and 0.005-0.1 wt.% Pd on a carrier which makes a total of 100 wt.%. The catalyst has long life, acts quickly when the engine is started, and resists high temps., e.g. >980 degrees C.
