Abstract
Structural elements are mfrd. from mortar with inorg. binder e.g. cement, lime, gypsum, and magnesite, liquefiers (I) and opt. additives and promotors. The (I) is a (co)polymer of an imide or amide of an unsatd. carboxylic acid (e.g. maleic) substd. via the amide- or imide-N atom by (cyclo)alkyl or (alkyl)aryl gps. bearing sulphonic acid grps., and is used at 0.05-5% w.r.t. binder. Presence of (I) has a "plasticising" effect on the compsn., rendering it easy to process both manually and by machine. Relatively little water is required to prepare the compsn. so avoiding excessive reduction of mech. strength; shrinkage is reduced, resistance to low temp. improved, setting and drying time shortened.
