Abstract

Magnesia-based refractory concrete comprising (a) an aggregate of >=96% MgO contg. 1.5% SiO2, 1.5% CaO and 0.1% other impurities, of particle size range 10-30% 0.1-0.4mm, balance 0.5-3 mm; (b) a liquid binder contg. 1-5g alkaline Na silicate per 100g aggregate (calcd. dry), (c) a solid binder contg. 100g MgO of >=96% purity, 7-10g fused SiO2 (cristoballite) and 1-5g dehydrated Na2BO3, the total binder being used at a rate of 35-55g/100g MgO aggregate.
