Abstract

Lubricating compsn for coating metals to be worked by e-g forging, drawing, extrusion, comprises a fatty acid and/or fatty oil and/or wax and/or mineral oil (pref. stearic acid) dissolved emulsified or dispersed in an aq. phase contg. a metal attacking acid (e.g. hydrohalic, sulphuric, nitric, phosphoric, acetic, (tri)chloracetic, lactic, tartaric, polyacrylic, fluoroboric, fluorotitanic, or fluorosilicic) and an oxidising agent (e.g. a peroxide or bichromate). The additives ensure good adhesion to the metal and a uniform, thick coating.
