Abstract

Silver-iodine cell has a solid electrolyte made of a mixt. obtd. by successive fusion and hardening of solver iodide and iodides of polyamine, the latter comprising also a cathode depolarising agent. Pref. polyamine iodides are R3N+-R-N+R3.2I-(where R is alkyl or aryl) esp. hexan-1,6-bis-trimethylammonium iodide (hexamethonium iodide). Electrolyte is free of impurities and has a high conductivity.
