Abstract

The process to weld high tensile steel uses a cooling stage after welding, to reduce the weld to below 0 degrees C before further heat treatment for quenching, tempering and ageing. The cooling phase prevents the development of weak points, faults or cracks in the workpiece in the welding zone when welding at high speeds.
