O,O-Dimethyl-thionophosphoric acid (I) is prepd by heating a mixt of MeOH and O,O-dimethyl-dithiophosphoric acid (II) in a molar ratio of >=1:2 at >75 degrees C. (II) may be replaced by the equiv amts of P2S5 and MeOH. (I) is an inter for insecticides.
