Abstract

The article is heated to drive off volatile constituents from the surface and a pyrolytically or hydrolytically decomposable organometallic or inorganic cpd. which, under the heat of the volatilization process decomposes to form a uniform layer of TiO2, ZrO2, ZnO2, Al2O3, Cr2O3, Fe2O3, Co2O3, ZnO, MgO, zircon, cordierite, beryl, topaz or spodumene, is applied. Alternatively, a plastics material e.g. PTFE can be used, esp. in addition to the oxides above.
