Abstract

A ceramic plate pierced with a number of holes across the plate to permit flow of gaseous fuel for the burner, is produced by a method in which a horizontal mould plate is surmounted with a number of projections of material fusible or vaporisable at below the firing temp. of the ceramic, vertical mould plates of height appropriate to the thickness of ceramic plate required are placed or fastened around the horizontal plate, and a refractory ceramic casting slip is poured into the mould and allowed to set. The assembly is then dried and fired in the mould, when the needles melt or vaporise away leaving holes.
