Abstract
The polyolefin films are produced by subjecting extruded polyolefin films to ionising radiation at a density 10 megarads. They are used for packaging foods and other products, the packages being easily opened by tearing. Irradiation is effected in the absence of considerable amounts of substances such as oxygen, which can react with polyolefins. For a film with a thickness of 10-20 mu, the density of the ionising radiation is 1-5 pref. 2-4 megarads. The film pref. has a thickness of 10-20 mu, and consists of polyethylene with a density >0.94 g/cm3.
