Abstract

A machine for weaving wires or plastic mono-filaments uses a gripper shuttle motion, operated from both sides of the loom. The weft is placed in the gripper shuttle at a distance from the selvedge, and as the shuttle moves through the shed, the transfer motion unit and clamp moves up to the selvedge edge and clamps the wire as the shuttle reaches the far edge. When this is done, the wire is cut close to the selvedge edge and action is repeated from the other side.
